Ah emulators...
Had a craving to play River City Ransom one day, and then regretted the idea when I started finding ALL the old classics...
Who knew you could waste your youth TWICE in one lifetime...?

Bionic Commando and the first CastleVania (Zelda 1 not included) are the BEST games ever.
And Stinger. That was a cool game. Like Gradius, but with cartoon planes.

Anyone ever play a game called Rygar?
Best NES games:
Ninja Gaiden
Metal Gear
Tetris
Castlevania
Zelda
Link
Baseball Stars (not a baseball fan but the trading and making players was wicked)
Punchout
Bladze Of Steel
Mario 3

Rygar ROCKED!!!!!!!
Still, I think the best game for the NES was the ORIGINAL Final Fantasy. I STILL find myself playing that game of a semi-regular basis. My only beef with that game was that the memory function on the cartridge was a little iffy... and erased my game a number of times. Still, that game is a masterpiece. The revamped version for PS1 is a great time as well.... but the original just has that magic about it... I'm not one of these guys who jumped on the Final Fantasy VII bandwagon... though it is a complete and total masterpiece... I was there since day one, and stayed there, though I stil think that Final Fantasy 8 and X-2 were completely and utterly awful . I think Final Fantasy's golden age was that of it's time on the SNES...... Ahhhhhh.... Final Fantasy 2 and 3 (aka 4 and 6 in Japan)..... It doesn't get much better than those. What other SNES game had an Opera scene???? Kain the dragoon is the man!!
Castlvania...... Good call Jeff. I have been a follower since the beginning as well. The trilogy for NES was phenomenal... though I must say that my fave of the three was Castlevcania 3: Dracula's Curse. Nothing beat changing into that wizard Sypha, or climbing walls as Grant DaNasty throwing those huge daggers.
That said, the best game of the series in total was Castlevania: Symphony of the Night for PS1....... A long, secret laden game with GORGEOUS 2d graphics... Gimme beautifully crafted sprites ANY DAY.... I love 2d games like that.... people just don't appreciate how gorgeous this game looked... everyone was just whining and complaining that it was still in 2d when it came out. I think this is one of the most underrated games of all time. It is in my top three favorite games ever..... a fabulous game that should get a second look from gamers.
I also am a big fan of Legacy of the Wizard. That game was a blast..... and what about Faxanadu????? One of my top 5 fave NES games... The Dragon Warrior games were fun too... if a bit primitive.. thogh I loved number 2. Blaster Master was a good one too. Yo Noid was a wtotally bizarre, but incredible game too. How many other games had pizza eating contests?
I think I am going to fire up my old NES tonight. Is there any better waste of time??

Rygar was indeed awesome Tim! Getting that grappling hook was just amazing! And then beating that Lion dude with the rings of flames that come out? That was the best night ever ha ha! I even recorded it on VHS (maybe Beta? LOL!).
Contra rocked and so did Super-Spike Volleyball.
And Double Dribble!
Most frusterating? Kid ICarus.

That game had WAY advanced graphics for its time man. Totally!
FF was definitely good as well. Getting the canoe and being big enough to kill ogers (to get all the gold) was the secret.
Bomberman rocked (multiplayer) and so did Life Force.
