i think you really need to find a specialist today and get him seen, dont wait around for your vet to find one
try here for a start:
ReptileVets.co.uk - Find Local Reptile Vets
at the very least the vets listed will be able to give you the contact details of someone more local if they are too far

^^ Thats what I was thinking also.
I’m curious as to what the vet said the thinking was behind the pro-biotics in the water? (pro-biotics are typically to improve gut flora after tremendous stress, administration of antibiotics, etc. to aid with digestion issues) Clearly not a digestion issue but you can hurt him with pro-biotics.

Re: Can someone help .
Thanks Formica for the vet links . I have just phoned the vets again , the vet will call me back . I want them to get in touch with the specialist vet , as she said she would if need be . I don't know what to do , should I still feed him the rat tonight , as asked , you know with his mouth being black . He seems ok , and calm .

Personally I wouldn't feed until the specialist vet had called back. I hope all goes well for you both.

Re: Can someone help .
I cant for the life of me work out why the vet would suggest feeding at this point - but i'm not a vet, i'm not qualified to answer your question, but I agree with Donnie, I personally would be inclined to wait until I had spoken to a specialist, or at least having spoken to the vet again, perhaps to find out why they suggested feeding, there may be a good reason for it that we couldnt hope to guess at
fingers crossed this is all resolved quickly for you and your snake

Re: Can someone help .
Thanks .
Well they asked me to feed him , to see how he will react , that I am to watch him , to see if there is a problem when he takes it , or if he can not take it .
Ok , just got of the phone , they said hold of the feed , they will contact the specialist vet , and will call me tomorrow .

Sorry...that should have been...you CAN'T hurt him with pro-biotics.
(Little keys, big sausage fingers, auto-correct, etc.)
I would say dont feed him tonight...!
A snake that size would be just fine without food for months so you are not going to hurt him at all by missing a meal or two. Since you dont yet know what is going on; you could cause him harm having him do what he does to put a rat away. Also if he does have an infection you are better off (vet speciality visit pending) letting him conserve his energy and sit still.

Years! Wow i tip my hat to you Tracy. I always love see people who have older snakes it always good to see people who are dedicated to there reptiles. So many get them keep less than a few year and get rid of them for the next cool thing. I have a Jungle that's almost 12 years old. I hope everything work out for you and your beautiful Coastal.
