Re: Diamond Jungle Jaguar / Super Caramel

Your enclosure looks great G. What did you cover the sides and back with?

Thanks. It's just a ordinary background to aquarium.

Re: Diamond Jungle Jaguar / Super Caramel

Yesterday I fed her the first time. A 48 gr rat was a cinch and left a nice big bump on her body. Will be feeding her with small rats (45-55gr). One every two weeks in three maybe four months before I try a little larger prey

Thanks! It's a pretty large terrarium for a small carpet, but it's working really great. Will be exciting to follow her growth and see if there will be any more color changes. She is only 10 months old (22 / 5-15).

Re: Diamond Jungle Jaguar / Super Caramel

Large prey and various day and night temperatures were a little tough for the little snake. Skipping temperature reduction and uses infrared day and night for maximum digestion. Will lowering the night temperature again when she has grown bigger.

Re: Diamond Jungle Jaguar / Super Caramel

Genetically she's got so much potential. My boys just a normal caramel so she might be a little out of his league but we like to aim high around here . Is your girl still a little defensive? My male musked me twice when I first got him but he's super chill now. Did you say you're feeding her a small meal every 2 weeks and she's 10 months? That could be a reason for her being grumpy. She might be hungry. Try feeding her a bit more and she'll probably settle down. I feed my snakes a bit more generously . My carpets get fed every 5 days until they turn 1, every 7-10 days until they turn 2, every 10-14 days to 3, and every 2+ weeks thereafter. In any event, your girl has an admirer.

Chomper is very nice
All offsprings from that female ( super caramel ) have a mixture of aggressive/defensive behavior. It's very special and not comparable to normal frightened/nippy carpet hatchlings. She will calm down a bit with age, but will probarly never become a docile carpet. But i like snakes with attitude Rats around 50 gr are a pretty large meal for her and the two weeks schedule is the same schedule as she had at the breeder. She even grows faster than I expected so it's soon time to give her bigger rats than 50gr.

Re: Diamond Jungle Jaguar / Super Caramel

Newly shed girl who has grown a bit since i bought her. She's got thicker branches that will suit her quite a while and seem to thrive well even though there isn't much to hide behind

Re: Diamond Jungle Jaguar / Super Caramel

Beautiful snake. Carpets are very much on my wishlist - they fit very much in the big but not silly range for me and the markings are to die for even in their natural colours

Re: Diamond Jungle Jaguar / Super Caramel

Thanks! Yes, carpets are nice snakes. Affordable price and many colorful morphs to choose among. They are also easy to care for and the size of a fully grown morelia spilota is quite manageable for one person.
