It was supposed to be just Anubias on the left, the Brazilian sword on the right. I was trying a micro sword as a foreground grass type plant for awhile but the Malaysian trumpet snails kept uprooting them so I gave up. There was also a moss ball which has broken apart now. The java fern was a stowaway. Must have hitched a ride on the sword from another tank I had. Every now and then I end up with a lot of other moss as well, not sure the exact type. Go figure I can grow it when not trying but when I tried it died.

The blue one is my dads old snowmobile helmet. I keep it because it's a memory growing up doing laps in the front yard on the snowmobile. The orange and black is my modular snowmobile helmet. I ride sleds and now getting into ATVs. Winters lately have kind of sucked around here. Last year was good snow wise but had machine trouble. Piston blew the year before and then after that got fixed last year a stud put a hole in the heat exchanger. So last year was a bust.

Thanks, this is the only planted tank I could keep this green. I tried to plant a 35g and it wasn't a great success, I changed that tank so many times and different fish and decor. Tried unsuccessfully to breed a few times, the only person alive who couldn't breed a proven trio of convicts. My power knows no bounds . It's Fluval stratum, expensive stuff. It's good for plants but not really feasible in larger tanks, cost a small fortune in bigger tanks. I've been keeping fish since grade school when I won a goldfish. Now just have this tank left, got rid of my 35g when I moved 2 years ago. Figured if I wanted another big tank later on down the road move up to a 40g breeder or a 55g and open a lot more options. In a couple years I'll build a goldfish pond in the backyard. Have to wait for that as it will cost a couple grand I'm sure. Moving more into reptiles now but still have this tank. Tried to get rid of it before my last move to save hassle but the guy backed out last minute so now I'm just keeping it. Nice addition to the room anyway.

Re: My humble pet room

I think everyone needs a haven! Yours looks lovely and tranquil. Mine is a craft room, that I am currently rearranging so my (future) hatchling will have a safe place to be too (away from two super enthusiastic dogs).

Re: My humble pet room

Time to update with the new addition.

There was a delay in adding the snake as I tore it apart to put a drainage layer of hydroballs and replanted it. Snapped a few pics of cage as it sits now and the new addition to the room. Meet CriKee an Indonesian vine snake. Used the shade from my hand in the store for security. Few shots from when he was put into the cage and staring me down while I was sitting on the couch. He ate my first attempt earlier this week which was great. To bad Mushu refused his first meal ever

I'll update the plant growth as it progresses. He is often hanging out in the upper right side but I catch him moving around elsewhere from time to time. I think the quieter environment of my house is already doing wonders for him. Lady at the store who fed him said he was shy, have to leave his food in a bowl hidden and then leave him alone to eat. He would eat that way though. But here he was striking at his food within seconds of me putting in it the cage and closing the door. I was still standing there and he couldn't care less he just had his eyes on the prize. A room in a house with 1 person is big difference then center of a retail store. Nice to see is calmer.

Re: My humble pet room

Lol thanks

They are now on a different floor from my sound system which is plenty loud. Usually only have the sub and speakers up half wayish. Can be heard clearly around the house. Results of good quality setup lol. Though that's supposed to be a more quiet peaceful place not blasting death metal with the vibrations going through the floor :P

Re: My humble pet room

Beautiful snake and set up blaze! How did you adhere the perches? Are they regular wooden dowels? I need to get a few for my carpets that are on the way.

Re: My humble pet room

Thanks, I'm happy how it's turned out. This is my first planted terrarium attempt.

They are bamboo sticks I bought at dollerama about 5ft long 4 for 2.50 and cut to fit. They are just friction in place. Vines are so light that he glides over them. Took a couple wrong cuts before I got the right length to stay. For heavier snakes you'll need something else to keep them up. The bamboo helps it look more natural and personally I think tropical.

Re: My humble pet room

Thanks, I'm not at all an artist, I can barely draw a stick figure with a ruler but this is my form of expression. Setting up aquariums or now terrariums. I'll probably be overhauling two of them in the near future for new inhabitants and replanting the vine snake tank as some are dying from the misting system. I prefer natural looking setups so try to do it as best I can.

Re: My humble pet room

The battle is still going, overnight it's a strong 90-95, day time before the next mist cycle drops to 70ish I think. I haven't found glass to cover it yet, I'm a bit concerned about not enough ventilation and fresh air sealing off too much. Those are the crotons, but two seem to be dying so have to replace those soon. The good news is he took a rat pinkie today instead of mice. The hoppers were quite feisty so I thought I'd try a rat pinkie instead, they were the same size but no danger to him. He is shy about eating infront of people at the store. I left it in a dish all night as he didn't seem to care that it was there. This morning I caught him swallowing the pinkie so he was okay with the swap. I feel better now, I can leave him be to eat in peace. I'm not sure if it was partly due to when I first fed last week he happened to be right above where I put the dish and this time was on the far side so might have been he wasn't aware it was there as every time I checked in on him he hadn't moved from that spot. Both snakes ate so that's good, Mushu refused last week.

Re: My humble pet room

Mine are in an exo terra as well and I have all the top sealed except where the lights are. so between the gaps around the lights and the venting on the front I find its the perfect amount of ventalition. also Iif the lowest your humidity hits it 70% thats great. Just as long as its staying above the 60s youre good to go. Ill try to remember to take a picture of how i sealed the top of mine and post it here for you.
