I do have a lock on the front of the cage, which I've just reinforced to make doubly sure he can't get out
again!

I have good news, moments ago I found him!! He was hanging out on a water bottle near his cage. What a relief!

I went all out to try to find him, although none of it mattered. I poured flour on the floor near doorways to be able to track his movements, and I made 4 traps for him each baited with a FT pinky mouse (I have a bunch left over so thought this was a good use for them). Well, 5 traps if you count the gerbil cage I guess (gerbils are useless pets btw).

Well, it's still early so I guess I can go out for a beer now! Cheers! Thanks for everyone's concerns and help.

HURRAY!!! Congrats!!! SO happy 4 ya!! What a relief go figure he'd just turn up on his own evading all the traps lol

I'd solve the problem as soon as possible, 2 escapes in 24 hours is a bad sign.

Get some air tube like they use in fish tanks - slice one side and wrap it around the glass - gap filled!

is there a possibility that he escaped through the gap in the glass rather than opening the viv, if so, u might want to put a draught excluder from a door on the glass (in he gap between the 2 pieces), this will also add as a glass cleaner as you open and close the glass, the soft fibres in the excluder will "wipe" the glass clean and take the dirt off lol

but either way, congrats for finding him.

I fixed the problem by getting some 5/16" foam tape (weather stripping basically) at Home Depot and sticking it between the two panes of glass. Yesterday I put Leto back in the cage and it seems to have fixed the problem. I did observe him trying very hard to bust out of the cage as you can see from these pics. He's actually still trying tonight, but I'm confident he can't get out now!

My four foot JCP still tries each day to get through the gap in the glass, well done for solving the issue.

Lol, I was thinking the same thing, he's like I know this is where I got out before!

The good thing is, this fix only cost about $3.

The only thing I would chance is adding an adhesive to ONE side of the weather stripping, it wont stop it from sliding but it will remove the potential for the snake to push it out.
Remember that some glue will break down the polystyrene.

One side of the foam is sticky already. It's like tape that is 5/16" thick, and it fit perfectly between the two panes of glass. I guess with a gap that big, I should have known he could squeeze out in the first place! I really did get lucky this time, I mean that I was able to find him at all. I had a corn snake escape last year and we never did find her. I can only wonder what happened to her.
