Are bubble gums able to be purchased anywhere in the states? I've been looking all over and I can't find any bubblegum bp's only corn snakes and king snakes. I doubt I could afford one but I'd like to keep an eye out for them

I saw a documentary on macaw and parrot breeders. There was a particular breeder that had some very rare macaws and many other expensive birds. He had armed guards around his facility 24 hours a day. This was in Florida. These animals including Ralph davis' are rare jewels that unfortunately attract undesirable collectors. You're right, absolutely nothing funny at all, I may not have anything as valuable, but when I do, I'm going to take precautions.

Just for my smaller collection I don't trust some people around here that know about it. My precautions are five large dogs. Drugging 1 dog is easy, but try 5 . Not too mention I have a couple cheap hidden cameras from Wal Mart places in a couple of rooms in my house other than the herps room. I have 1 dog that is mine the rest are the people I live with (girl friend and brother), consisting of a monster Rotti, austrailian cattle dog, border collie, beagle, and a husky chow mix. Friendly as hell unless someones not here. Had a law suit pending from the rotti biting someone when they came in while we weren't here. Unfortunatly it was a "good" friend but it made me wonder why they were trying to come in while we weren't here. Luckily it was dropped and I waved any trespassing charges but he learned not to come in... In fact I haven't seen him since. Good guy but never know what peoples intentions are...
But agree'd not funny.
Still want to know about those bubble gums though

I believe Ralph imported the bubble gum just this past year and she hasn't been bred so no one know the genetics yet. I'm sure once she is proven out she will be expensive though. Correct me if I'm wrong there.

To some, the Bubble Gums are also known as "calico's", so that might help your search.

Jeff's right, many people think the Bubble Gum is some form of Calico............I think I'd agree. It was named Bubble Gum becuase it was intense pink as a baby. It still has some now, but it is turning white.
There are others that have similar looking snakes.......Doug Beard produced some this year, but they don't look quite the same. Current speculation is that Ralph's might be a Super form or something.
Ralph's is a female, and I was just imported from Africa in early 2004..........all that in mind and added to the fact that she doesn't like to eat so well makes this project a little longer than anyone would hope
Just for reference sake on the Granite Albino......That is a wild caught female. I beleive it was her son that is breeder her now so hopefully we'll see this year if it's reproducable. I don't think it's as simple as a Granite bred to an Albino with this one........It's so very different from the normal colours/patterns.
I'm glad everyone enjoyed the pictures......I sure enjoyed taking them

Jonk,
Do you know how many snakes he has in total?
How many hours a day does he devote to the maintenance of his collection?
Did he reveal any husbandry secrets that we don't know about up here?
Thanks, Paul.

beanersmysav - I don't think you will see any calico's for sale in the next year or two......and if there is, they surely won't be the same calibre as Ralph's Bubble Gum.......They'll also probably start around $30-$40K USD I would imagine........Pieds start around $4500 USD right now......
paulsreef - I'm not sure Ralph has an exact count, but an estamate would be around 1000. Maintenance time varies depending on the day of the week and such, and he has employee's that help out at the rat barn and with his snakes as well. Everything was in fantastic order as his place........I've never seen so many Freedom Breeder units under one roof
