It probably really depends on your pain tolerance Clarke -- I have little doubt that I'll probably pass out when I get mine done -- lol. That's ok though

There's certainly some great ideas on here, good thread! As soon as I get a cool design dreamed up, I'll be getting my first... can't wait

A lot of it depends on where on your body you get a tattoo. I find anywhere bone is near the skin hurts. Fleshy parts of the body, like upper arms, aren't bad at all. It's mainly a burning sensation. I've got a few, some of them large, and they all hurt . It's a passing thing and your body produces endorphins after a few minutes.

For me it felt essentially like being scraped....it hurt like HELL at times, but most times it was a little more than uncomfortable. Afterwards it felt like a bad sunburn when something brushed againt it and a bruise if I bumped it. Not mad at all. I also found that the better the artist, the less pain/scabbing you get afterwards. Friends of mine developped full scabs, whereas since I went to a very reputable studio, I had little to no scabbing, which was awesome!

I found that it hurts on the stomach, sides of torso and anywhere near bone. When it went over my spine, I could feel the vibration in my skull! Very strange sensation!
