Snake identification - please help!

Hi,
we just returned from our holidays in South Africa where we found this (juvenile) snake in our pool. Can anybody please help us identify this snake?
It was found in the Cape Town area. Our gardener told us he thought it was a black mamba while another person told us that they can't be found in the Cape Town area?!
Thanks for your help!
Tom

Looks like a Lycodonomorphus rufulus, Common brown water snake or African water snake. Which would make finding it a pool make sense. Harmless animal!
