OM NOM NOM! Venomous feeding thread!
Hi guys, I think it would be cool for all of us venomous keepers to have a running thread of pictures of our hots eating. There aren't that many of us on here that work with hots, but it'd be cool for us all to be able to see each others' animals in one easily found thread.
I'll start off with some pictures from last night's feeding. These are only a few of my vipers:
Tropidolaemus wagleri:
Cryptelytrops macrops (I think she's going to shed):
Popeia nebularis:
Cerastes cerastes:

Some stunning snakes there
Is it similar with hots to feed them f/t rather than live (for most keepers) or do more feed live?

Re: OM NOM NOM! Venomous feeding thread!
my Q is how do you feed them? isnt is dangerous to offer via tongs in case of mis-strikes? Or just really long tongs?
I think your aetheris broadleyi is the most stunning one you've shared I'm loving the scales!

Re: OM NOM NOM! Venomous feeding thread!
Just like with non-venomous, some keepers feed live and others feed f/t. I prefer to feed f/t because I feel that a hot bite is a pretty nasty way for a rodent to die. If the snakes won't eat f/t, I'd feed live but so far all of mine eat f/t without a problem.
I feed using 16" hemostats...they're long enough to keep the food close to the snake and my hands away. Also, I tend to feed at an angle so that my hand is behind the door or otherwise blocked.

Awesome pictures! I can't decide which one I like the best, but a Bush Viper is always a show stopper in my opinion!

Re: OM NOM NOM! Venomous feeding thread!
I know there are other venomous keepers on this forum- come on, guys. Post pictures! This thread made the Reptile Report. I'd love to see some other owners put up pictures of their fang faces.

I personally will not feed live, at all. I never will. I would much rather force feed, like i'm currently doing with my male Malayan pit viper.

If I was ever to get a hot it would be a gaboon viper that's a hot looking snake.

Re: OM NOM NOM! Venomous feeding thread!
Your snakes are beautiful! I wish I could keep hots but my Indian ornamental tarantula is probably enough hot-ness for me at this point in time. Lol :P
