Re: New snakey!!
Good choice i like seeing people with these as long as they DONT handle them.
Ive always thought they were the closest you could get for a nonvenomous to the majestic beauty of Arboreal Tree Vipers.

Re: New snakey!!
I want to be able to handle him one time a month.. only so I can clean out his viv and do what I need to do to keep him happy. I will be doing this with a hook seeing as he will be a display snake not a lap snake.

Based on this statement you will make a great owner, as long as your husbandry is correct. I love seeing non venomous owners handle snakes with hooks, it appears to be quite a bit less stressful for the animal. I do recommend you practice hooking with other snakes, (if you dont have alot of experience) before you go straight to it with a Tree Python, they are very delicate you have to support there weight just right. (as they get older it looks smaller right now)

most gtp keepers i know use removable perches
they just leave the gtp wrapped round its perch and take them both out as one
young gtp's have very delicate spines, one of the reasons people tend to leave sexing them until after 1 year of hatching
i have seen a few gtp's with kinked spines due to premature sexing or being overly handled
very nice wee green tree you have there
cheers shaun

Re: New snakey!!
If yours is anything like mine you dont need to remove to do a viv clean as mine just sits on his branch and watches me!
I reckon in the next couple of sheds you should have a lovely green snakey judging by his colouring and age - he will look pretty ****** in between the next few sheds but dont worry!
