In need of inspiration...

Hey i have a large 4'x2'x22" glass vivarium, which i plan on housing my ball python in. Just a bit lost for ideas on making it look nice for me as well as meeting the needs of my snake.

Now is a good time to show off your vivs. Wouldnt mind seeing a lot of natural design savannah style vivs. There seems to be more jungle style ones around.

Check the enclosure forums, lots of pics in there.

EDIT: Just figured I'd add, most ball keepers use rubbermaids not aquariums since aquariums are more difficult to maintain husbandry in. That is why I pointed you to the enclosure forum.

maybe you should use a rubbermaid for your ball python and get something more active to put in your tank.

Just a tip you do not need that large of a cage for a ball python also rubbermiad with heat pad under half on 1 end will work fine hope this helps you out it's cheap this way $40.00 & you have a sweet set-up.

Ball pythons are not very good display snakes. Not to say that they don't look good enough, but they are not very active. They hide most of the day. I agree with everyone suggesting a Rubbermaid. Good luck.

Your snakes needs come first, looking nice for you comes last.
Go for a rubbermaid; when the ball is feeding and healthy, you won't care about appearance.

Since this thread isn't about which is better (rubbermaid vs glass) I'm not going to go down that road. But I will say that I use a 40G glass aquarium, and I know several other people who use them for their bp's, with no problems whatsoever.

It can be a bit tricky to get it set up properly, but one thing you should think about though, is that a nice looking "display case" can be a giant pain to clean, as well as the fact that your snake will likely hide most of the time anwyay. Another thing is balls are terrible climbers, so sticks (or other things climbable) aren't the best idea at all, unless of course you want to be woken up all night by falling sounds... lol

I have heard that balls just have trouble getting down lol. I did mention that i wanted it to be a non-jungle display! I dont like the idea of putting a terestrial animal in an arboreal style setup, it just seems silly. I have had a natural style viv before with my beardies and it looked amazing, it just makes the animals look much more relaxed (which is probably more of a psychological human thing).

I'm used to the cleaning bit, thats absolutely fine. Husbandry should be okay, i have thought it through before, I just need to set it up and then make some adjustments after if there are any problems.

I just wanted to see some savannah style vivs that some people may have of their own.
