Interesting chain of events.....

Put a little male that I had cycling for a couple weeks in. He cruised around and then hid under the wood slab on the cool end. Female starting vibrating her tail rapidly (ala rattlesnake or colubrid) and then she raised it and squirted all this juice out. Here's a pic of her tail:

Then, about 2-3 minutes later, the male comes screamin' out of the hide spot and starts to court her. He was all over her, much like a milksnake or kingsnake male. Here's a pic:

Within about 4 minutes or so, there was penetration. They were so placid too. I even moved the male's upper 1/3 to get this pic. Once they are breeding, you can't do anything that'll make them stop. If they bail when you touch the cage, then they aren't breeding. During courting, the female can get spooked, but during mating, I feel that you can move most pythons around and do pretty much whatever you want. They seem to be in a trance, much like when boas give birth. Pic here. Couldn't get my arms in to lift the tail to get a pic of insertion as the litter dam is too high. You get the idea though. Female is 16 months old. I'm not getting my hopes up. This is more of an excercise to turn the males I have into MACHINES. LOL!

That's what I thought Chewie. It'll be interesting to see what the next pair does. I should have my digi-camcorder by then.

Thanks guys! Womas are the best!

Beautiful pictures, and great ones to make me wonder. I see no heat pits. I had been told ages ago that all pythons have heat pits, so I am wondering about that

Hey, it's like 1 Am and I'm still awake....sure wish I could sleep lol!

Pythons in the genus Aspidities do not have heat pits.

This story sounds famililar heh heh. Wish my silly male wasn't such a freak though. His "trance" can & has been disturbed & the other younger male is more scared of her than he is horny LOL I'm not sure if he got any or not but my scaredy male has been "in" on multiple occassions. I too have my doubts for this year, but practice makes perfect now don't it. I see someone down East produced this year, our time will come eh Jeff! Cheers & Good Luck Man! Mark

Our time will come indeed man! I hadn't planned for this year as this female is only 16 months. I ain't even thinking about it. I just liked the photos!

I did see those ones out east. They looked awesome! But then again, they all do, ha ha!

Cheers!

I know they aren't womas, but I put the male blackhead in with the female today, and it didn't take long for them court and intertwine. No penetration was witnessed, but then I didn't go lifting them up to get a closer look.
