Hey Trevor, I have a vicious Rosy too *pics*

I was simply trying to move her into a temporary enclosure while I performed a little cage maintenance and WHAM, strike and coil while she was in transport in my hand. Simply a respond to movement as I had just gotten dressed from a shower and there's no way I could have smelled like food. I guess, for her safety, she has just bought herself a lifetime of being "handled" only with the hook
Just testing the water, as, up until today, we have had very little interaction. It took me an hour of waiting for her to uncoil on her own accord, after the tip of my finger got tingly I decided I would have to take her off myself.
Anyway, plenty of time for some pics (I even had to change the batteries in the camera with only one hand):

Notice the slightly purplish hue of the tip of my index finger, if I twitched my finger at all she would instantly tighten.

She's looking for the best place to start consuming this meal, "Where's the head?"

"Maybe this is it?"

Crazy snake...

Cheers,
Ryan

"Rosy boas make great pets because they are so docile."
Tell that to our Rosy Boas eh! My male desert has turned psyco and the female has nailed me too. Also one of the south bajas has gotten me already. Well let's put it this way the only Rosies not to bite me so far are the new female bay of la and the female south baja.
Great pics! Thanks for sharing I'm sure they will be enjoyed by everyone.
Aren't you glad we don't keep Retics?lol
Cheers,
Trevor

I have only been bit once with my three pairs of rosies. The bite was a SFE and I deserved it.

Lets hope they stay calm

LOL I still consider them to be docile, albeit some of them have a tendancy to get confused about what is food and what is not. It's quite entertaining... they are so slow and deliberate about it. Definitely not a case of mistaken identity, they fully believe that people can be eaten Only one of my rosies falls in to that category... funny little bugger... have to give her little flicks every 20 seconds if you hold her for any length of time or she just sinks her teeth right in to you :flick: Little buggers have big teeth for such puny little heads though!

Edit: Is it just me, or does the people-eating seem to be mostly found in Coastal rosies?

Slow and deliberate, definitely! She's never bitten me, like struck at me that is. She will jam her nose into my finger very slowly, but very deliberately, pause a few seconds, then open her mouth as if she is going to ingest me finger first...
I think Coastals are usually the best feeders so that might be indicative of their tendency towards silly attempts to eat a human.
