Re: Corn snake Check List

The insect guy I know uses the hemos to hold roaches and stuff for the mantis' so he isn't interferring or distracting the mantis.

local medical supply store? We have one in our town--check your phone listing or google for your area. Or you can buy them online.

Re: Corn snake Check List

for the tank i saw online i think 75 watt will be more than enough. you will probably need a rheostat to actually make bulb cooler.

Re: Corn snake Check List

A rheostat is a device, known as a variable resistor, with which you can control the amount of electrical current another device receives. Hence, you can use a rheostat to control the amount of electricity the bulb receives to make it dimmer/cooler or brighter/hotter.

Before changing bulbs, get a good thermometer and check the temps where your snake actually is--on the substrate or on whatever is above it that it can get onto under the bulb. Then you'll know whether you need to reduce the heat or not.

I would give you advice, but lets just say I'm still learning. You got a beauty though! I want a lavender corn snake. Something about the colors, gorgeous.
