Dr. Fry, the snake in the picture is an Elaphe carinata, more likely an E. c.carinata, than E. c. yonaguniensis or E. c. deqenensis - two other and more rare subspecies of Elaphe carinata.
They are called a stinking goddess because of their musk. It doesn't smell, to me, like something that could be created by any animal. Sometimes, it has a plastic or petroleum type smell, and if not washed it off with cold water right away, the smell seemed to intensify, and could stay for days.
I hope Vanan enjoys her finer qualities as much as I used to.
Ryan

Nett, They were worth the view while they were there anyhow, LOL. Lets see ya start a new thread elsewhere to show em off as they should be seen : ) My little male LTR thinks hes quite tough too, I'll have to dig up a pic. Mark
Found one, he's much bigger now (pics approx. a year old), but has calmed down some, lucky for me LOL M.I.

Ryan,
That was certainly a very sharp snake indeed ;-) As for the smells, I have a project going on that exact thing right now, figuring out what gives the snakes their lovely smells ;-) It will be interesting to see the differences between the different lineages, particularly in regards to the fact that the aquatic species alway seem to stink the worst (e.g. water snakes such as Nerodia).
Cheers
Bryan

Mark,
How would you behave if you had to go around wearing pink all the time and had just polished off a bottle of NyQuil? Or is he just pissed cuz you tried to give him the kid's stuff?lol
