I totally missed that it said anomals and thiught it was repriles only.
In that case I would like to add that my real dream animal is actually a curl crested aracari.

Re: Dream animals
After seeing Tsubaki pics I'd like a labyrinth burm, oh man would like a labyrinth burm. And for something a bit unusual I'd choose a spotted genet, I had the pleasure of meeting one of these amazing little animals and fell in love with it, hand reared and very tame

A perentie is probably my most favorite lizard, but I have all but resigned the fact that I will never own one living in the US. African wild dogs were my top goal to see when we were in Tanzania, but our guide with 20 years of experience had only seen them once. You can guess how we faired. The most frustrating thing was that our guide said the group he was with did not even care to see them. We recently bought a marbled Bengal cat, as some of you may know from a previous thread, and my favorite thing is how similar its coat is to a African wild dog.

It is not often that I have no clue what an animal is, but you got me here mink. Neat little bird though.

Those labyrinth burms are incredible. Tsubaki has definitely almost suckered me in with his animal. I actually looked into a genet before getting into snake keeping. Lucky you meeting one first hand. I have not had the pleasure. They are incredible animals but I have read they are very energy intensive.

Re: Dream animals
@MesoCorney. Same haha Im actually glad that perenties are not available to the general public just because I feel that a fair amount would end up in bad homes. I really like african wild dogs and a zoo near me has a pair. They really are breathtaking animals

Yeah you are probably right about the general lack of regard for their care requirements.

Re: Dream animals
I would have a really hard time passing up a cbb Naja Pallida (Red Spitting Cobra) if one pops up in the classifieds. It was a Gila Monster forever and I couldn't have one in Arizona, but moving to Oregon took care of that problem

My dream snakes change all the time. I've always loved the look of Boelen's, but if I'm totally honest with myself, pythons are really not my favorite. I really love the big colubrids. Next on my list to get is a pair of Tiger rat snakes (S. pullatus). But, as far as "dreams", I guess right now I'd say a Timber rattlesnake (C. horridus). They're not difficult to get, but it looks like hots are going to remain a dream for me unless I someday can afford to build a detached reptile building.

Very Cool. Is it more difficult to keep spitting cobras over other venomous? It seems like it would be another level of challenge.

I am definitely with you on the large colubrids. Those black tailed cribos are very enticing, especially the axanthic morph. Their face pattern reminds of some of the metal bands I grew up with. Am I remembering correctly that tiger rats can be a bit unpredictable? Incredible looking animals either way. I ran across a species similar to the Spilotes that was all red and was quite impressive. I decided against purchasing it as it was wild caught, but I can not remember the exact species. Those timbers and canebrakes are certainly neat animals.

The biggest difference is you have to wear eye protection when working with them. I have also heard stories of people who work with spotters long term developing an allergy to the venom due to prolonged low level exposure. Kind of like how I didn't get poison oak as a kid but now it's miserable. Only a bigger deal beacause... cobra venom. I'm right there with you guys on the large colubrids! My female False Water cobra is over 6 feet and as big around as my wrist and definitely still growing.

Re: Dream animals
For me it's hard to single out 1 "dream animal" because there are too many I like. My favorite are colubrids and I like the larger ones for sure. I guess I could have a dream group of all the drymarchons...2 down and 4 to go.
