Well my very pregnant Stimson's python had a surprise for me when I got back from visiting my parents last night. The ONE time I'm out of the house for a day and a half and couldn't check her twice in the day, she laid her eggs. I got home and she was in a nice tight beehive coil, but she'd destroyed her nestbox and laid right in the middle of the cage..lol. 5 good eggs and 1 most likely dead one that she wasn't coiling and is kind of mushy. I took the eggs and set them up in my incubator with the "dud" in its own cup to see if it can make it, but I'm not expecting it to. I'm expecting to have to pull it tonight or tomorrow. She was very well-mannered about us taking her eggs and didn't try to hiss or anything.
So now it's another 45-50 days of waiting and checking my incubator and hoping I can get the little ones to hatch ok. I was soo nervous when I saw the eggs last night- I had read and talked to people about what to do and then seeing them there, I was just like, "OMG, what do I do? Do I take them now, do I let her try? Gah!" lol. I am sure it will get routine eventually but oh man it was exciting and I'm so happy!!!
