Got an email that says I have to introduce myself, so here goes.
Kelly is my name. I've been a dog person all my life and just now getting into reptiles by way of the all-species animal rescue group that I volunteer with. Started with fostering a Ball Python (Linkin) who I ultimately adopted. Fostered a corn snake (Ripley) with scoliosis who was dumped at a pet store by the owner. He was adopted by a Vet Tech who was specifically looking for a special needs snake to adopt. Next, I fostered an extremely ill Jackson's Chameleon (Michonne) who was surrendered by owner who couldn't afford vet care. We did everything we could for her, I gave her subQ fluids daily, antibiotic injections, and syringe fed Pedialyte and liquid calcium, but she was too far gone. She had mouth rot and MBD so bad that half her skull was missing. Most recently, adopted an approx. 3yo female Savannah Monitor (Puff) who was owner surrendered due to not being able to care for such a large lizard. They were keeping her in a 55 gallon aquarium and feeding rats exclusively. Good news is that her vet exam checked out well. No MBD, she is just obese!
