Does my viv sound okay? Also substrate?

I am planning on getting a juvenile male BP in the relatively near future. I have an old vivarium from a few years ago that was my leopard geko's before he died and I was wondering if it sounds okay for keeping a juvenile in for a while? I'm yet to get it down from the loft to check but I amm 90% sure that its 36x12x12 inches (short and long rather than tall) which works out about 18.6 gallons. Its also covered on all sides but the front which I figured would feel more secure for a young, shy snake.

I was also wondering what everyone favoured as a substrate for juveniles?

As long as you have plenty of cover and hides your enclosure should be ok. I use shredded aspen or sani-chips for my snakes but there's lots of acceptable substrates. You can use paper towel, shredded newspaper, eco-earth, cypress mulch, etc.
