For internal or external parasites? If for external parasties (mites) there are much safer, cheaper methods than injecting the snake. Plus injecting the snake only deals with the parasites that are actually feeding on it at the time & doesn't kill the rest of them or their eggs. As far as internal parasites go I would think the medication would be given orally, not injected, but could be wrong. If you are dealing with mites I suggest using the NIX treatment for snake mites.
http://www.albertareptilesociety.org/caresheets/nix.pdf Vets will sometimes want to inject Ivomec I think its called for mites, not very safe or effective. Reptiles are very sensitve to medication specially when its injected. If not done in the correct dosage it can be fatal. So the vet didn't show you how to properly administer the medication when they first prescribed/administered it then? Any time I have had to get such medication the vet showed me once when the first injection was done at the office & then I did all the following injections myself at home. Maybe your vet just wants you to visit lots for the extra $ ? Good luck with your snake, Mark
