shredded paper as substrate

I was wondering if I could use shredded office paper as a substrate for my Texas ratsnake. My boss at work gave me a big bag full to use for my rats and bunny, but I wasn't sure if paper with photocopy ink on it was safe to use with snakes.

Most black ink is generally vegetable ink but I would only guess that holds true for photocopy ink. If you do use it consider a layer of flat newspaper underneath, helps to ease the cleaning a bit.
