does anyone know where i can check to see what the laws are in my city are?

Go to your city town hall. Or check if they have a webcite.

Hopefully you have different laws then across the bridge, burlington is no reptiles period.

lol yea burliington SUCKS! i work in burlington and they have reptile stores and they only got colubrids. I like colubrids but i also like large lizards and snakes.

I live in hamilton and the reptile store has from small to the HUGE pythons. even crocks

As forementioned, try City Hall. Whatever you do, do not contact the SPCA or any similar agency, they will not give accurate info, and may even tell you you are not allowed to own anything, regardless of what the actual law is... they are pretty crotchety in my experience when it comes to exotics, especially reptiles
