so this has nothing to do with snakes. so i went cliff diving the other day. and of course when i was putting my clothes back on i shook my pants free of dirt as they were on the ground.and my keys went flying into the river. now ironically i have never lost a set of keys until this day. and i've always had extra sets made for past vehicles. i didn't have an extra set because the two hardware stores here had run out of the key. so its only natural i lost the only remaning set. anyway i thought i just might share my story and say "Hello!. as i haven't posted in months. I've been soo busy.

Anybody know how to do that thing where you can break the cylinder and start the car with a screw driver? im serious. cos i need to get to work tomorrow. au revoir

Uhm, since that would be incriminating I can't tell you...J/K but I will say I'm sorry for the hard time you've had. If you crack the cylinder, and manage to break the locking mechanism on the ignition, you should be able to start your car, no sweat. You don't actually need a screwdriver, people just do that to look cool! LOL =D Good Luck, and I want to add, I'm *not* a car thief or anything! *wink*

It depends on the car. If you can start it like that. If you pop your hood find your cilinoid and put a screwdriver to I think its the hot bolt and touch it. It should start by doing that. Tell us what kind of car you got I might be able to help you better.

If its a older car 70's older I know how to start it with aligator clips if its newwer you can just take a screw driver an pound it in with a hammer in the key hole then it will work you can also crack the steering colum and use a jigsaw blade to start it

I know some one that did that, you know how your steering wheel locks? well it locked while he was going around a corner... not fun. lol

Speaking as a mechanic....youll have to pop the inner cylinder out. If you can slightly pull it away from the column, youll find either a clip or a pin that you have to push out. Remove the inner part of the cylinder....actually at this point you can key the cylinder yourself....but thats a whole other story. Once removed you can just join the cylinder hinges together with a screw driver and turn it. This will release your steering column. If you drive a car by hot wiring it without making sure the column is free, youll run the risk as lisa mentioned of having it lock as you drive! Some cars will have a coded key, which is basically a resister that will only allow the computer to recognize a certain amount of voltage. Without that...the car will never start. I think your best bet is to go to the dealer and see if they can give you a key based on the vin number. If not then you'll probably have to have a mechanic key it for you. Ive seen ppl try to do this themselves, i can only offer advice and a bit of warning. Linked to that assembly is alot of wiring that could be damaged if not done right. Including deployment of the air bag if your not trained. I would let a professional repair this. The damage from doing anything in the column without knowledge can easily blow the computer for the vehicle or worse. Good luck...hope this helps, Shane
