Warm water and a gentle circular rub all around the head and on the eye cap making sure it gets good and wet--then it slides off like a contact lens. (I'm too new at this and too scared to try the tape thing, myself. I have this vision of pulling it away with an eyeball stuck to it! lol) We have a rescue that we just removed three caps from one eye and two from the other, poor thing. If it gets good and wet and you're gentle, I think it'll come off nice and easy. I've also heard it's not a big deal--as long as you make sure it comes off next shed--but I have read that it's better for it to come off because of infections and what not.

I wouldn't worry about it. No harm will be done if they are left on until the next shed. IMHO manually removing the eyecaps is too invasive. Just make sure you increase your humidity around the next shed and it should come off on its own
