I am trying to figure out an easy way to do some sliding doors on my new boa tank. I have seen the plastic track that seems to be the cheapest but nobody around me carries it. If I just put a couple pieces of trim on the top and bottom of the opening that sandwiches the glass would that slide very well or no? If anyone has ideas or has done this let me know or just throw out other ideas. Thanks!
Ya I have seen that but it only comes in 4 ft sections and my tank is 6 ft, so I would have to buy two and put them together. I think I found what I will need. It is the same as the stuff at Rockler as far as I can tell but it is in the right length. Thanks for the suggestion.
i made a C frame out of 3/4 inch aluminium U channel and i use 3/8" plexi glass, you could use 1/2 " U channel with with a thinner plexy glass.the u channel will most likley has a 1/8 " wall thinkness so 3/8 glass will be to tight. my door is 3 feet wide and 7 feet tall and it slides in the frame rather well. im going to build a new cage and sell this on but next time im going to use 1" tube or wood, and 2, 1/2" u channels paralell to each other off set on the 1" tube so one glass slides infront of the other and opens from both sides. hope that helps you.
