Transporting A Burm

So if I do end up buying a burm in college, I'm gonna need to
move it eventually when I leave my dorm/appartment. It could feasably be longer than 10' by that time. How would I go about moving a 10+' burm over a 5 hour drive?

The few ideas I came up with were:

1. Hope I own a pickup truck big enough to build a makeshift cage in the bed. That would be possible but I can imagine it would be very stressful and if it's cold, the temprature could injure him.
2. Carry it with me in the car. This option seems a little more possible but I can't imagine what might happen if it managed to slip down between the pedals or found a place to crawl through into the engine compartment.

Either way, it's risky.

Put it in a large snake bag, and the bag into a large Rubbermaid tub. That's how people carry them to and from reptile shows. Something like a 92-quart Sterilite tub (31" x 17.5"x 13.8") should work. For transport, the snake doesn't need to be able to move around and all, it can be curled up in a bag inside a tub. Just set up its permanent cage when you get to the new place, so it can stretch then. Really transport them just like any other snake.
You would put the tub into the back seat of your car, and if it's cold when you're moving, tape a 12-hour heat pack wrapped in some newspaper to the inside of the tub lid so the snake will stay warm. If it's hot when you're driving tape a cool pack to the lid.

And that will last a snake for what could be at minimum a five hour drive?

Alright. I imagine I'd need to have a cage set up at the destination or will it be alright to keep him in the tub until I get one set up

As long as you set the cage up that day it should be fine. If you're worried, run some warm water in the tub and let him hang out in the bathroom while you get stuff set up, as long as you make sure there isn't anything in the bathroom he can get hurt on or destroy.
When I bring new snakes in, I usually run them a warm bath anyway, to get them back up to temp and hydrate them; Burms tend to enjoy water, as they are frequently in water in the wild.

I'd be more concerned about how you are going to keep a large Burm in a college dorm. Most dorms don't allow pets and large snakes, or snakes of any kind, are not the most popular of pets with the general public and liability minded housing authorities such as dorms, condos, etc.

I would hope that you would check on the restrictions/laws for wherever you're living before you bring in a large constrictor. Dorms do not allow pets of any kind generally, although I got away with having a tarantula and 2 or 3 geckos the last 2 years I was at college. People knew I had the tarantula. He was very docile and I'd walk around with him on my shoulders, especially on Halloween..lol. Boris was the most awesome spider ever. He would "wave hello", "give high fives" and "give kisses" on my nose with his 2 small front legs. Coolest thing ever.

Step 1. Buy a bed sheet
Step 2. Sew part of the bed sheet together to form a bag
Step 3. Place snake into makeshift bag
Step 4. Place bag inside large tub, possibly a garbage can.
Step 5. Place in warm part of car

I know about dormatory restrictions. I have already put thought into that. I said in a few other posts that I don't plan to buy it until perhaps my junior/sophomore year. Even still, I am doubting they will
allow large boids on campus at VT so I would be buying an appartment (which I wanted to do anyway) to live in. Hope that answers your questions

Yup. I figured that was your plan, but figured I'd mention the dorm restrictions anyway. You can always get a tarantula to tide you over- my Boris was the mascot of the girls' dorm- lol.
