Question How big should my BP be?

I got my BP "Sally" from a breeder at a show in September of '01, she was supposed to have hatched on April 4th on the same year. I've had her for more than a year now and she still only weights about 350g. I feed her two mice every five days, sheds normally about every 4 weeks, and otherwise seems healthy. Should she be bigger by now, or am I just worrying too much.

.....

I don't know what any snake "should" be at any certain time, but I do know that Ball Pythons are hatched out a size that eats adult mice. If your snake is over a year old, I think it would stand to reason that it should be eating larger prey items. A LOT larger.

My BP was born at around the same time .. he is 35 inches long and just over 900 grams .. he is feeding on small to medium rats. I would think you could feed either more mice, or get him onto rats. Like Jeff says it's hard to judge what size it should be at any stage, but 350 grams after a year is certainly smaller than average.

Our BP that was hatched late spring 01 is now eating small rats, some times medium rats.

All my balls are on rats and they really start to put on the weight. Check the temps and feed a rat that is equal the to the snakes girth. In no time at all you should see weight gain. Has he been checked for internal parasites?
Cheers,
Trevor

I have a female that was hatched in March 01 and she is now 1624 grams. She is the largest of my 01 BP's, my smallest male is 710 grams. He has been off feed for the last 2 months and he was off feed in March and Feb 02 as well. Needless to say he would be a lot larger if he had eaten for those 4 months. So I would say your BP is a little small but some BPs grow fast and others painfully slow. I would check your set up and either increase the size of the prey or increase the frequency of the feedings.
