While I'm awake, my bp is usually in one of his hides, so I just leave the rat outside his cool hide, and leave it.

i feed my bp out of tank. I have a cardboard box with a lid that i put him in. I dont have to worry about him eating substrate and messing up his stuff inside his tank that way. he always eats pretty fast so i dont have to worry much about him being out of tank. if you dont have time to watch when your bp is out of tank. try the brown bad method. all the benefits of feeding out of tank but you can keep the snake in tank. just my opinion

Either. If they want to eat, they'll find it.

I feed at night and most are out anyway. If they are in I dangle in front of the hide and that usually does it too. Or I also just leave it in front of the hide.
Cheers,
Trevor

BRAG why dont you! HAHA J/K I feed at night, she is most active then, and eats better. Whatever and whenever she'll take is awesome, she is just one of those snakes.

i see thanks for the post guys. i usually feed live prey by holding it with a tong. i hold the rat till he grabs it out of the tong so that i make sure that there is no incident.

He won't eat f/t or f/k? Not going into the topic but even if he has the rat in his coils an "incident" can still happen. All that rat has to do is have the chance to bite and it will.
I'm not criticizng your feeding method, if you got to feed live then you got to right now but don't have a sense of false security that one the constriction is happening that nothing bad can happen in that brief time while the rat is still alive. Caution is all I'm saying.

I agree with RepTylE , I would try to switch over to f/t or f/k . I feed mine really freash killed prey and they take it so fast I don't think they even relize it's dead .
