mite question

Hi I was wondering how long mite eggs can survive for, because I heard that they hatch within ten days of being layed. So if a person were to spray an inffested cage with nix every other day for two weeks and clean the cage very throughly (bleach etc..) then they should all be dead. I was just wondering because someone told me that he had a snake for a month before she had mites and his only other snake at the time did not have mites, and was in a different part of his house. So could it be that the mite eggs didn't hatch for a month or did he just not notice them. Thanks in advance for any positive comments and replys.

I would say that he just didn't notice them. The snake could have come in with just one mite. The nix treatments that I've read say that you spray and then two weeks later spray again.
Cheers,
Trevor

I can't see the eggs hatching after being cleaned with bleach.. I can't see very much living after being cleaned with bleach..

Im not sure of the potency of Nix, but maybe someone who has experience with it... Would the eggs still hatch after being sprayed down with it?? (i've never used Nix)

I know that Provent-A-Mite is supposed to kill everything in the cage including the eggs..

In my experience, Nix does kill eggs.
