Unhappy sick leo

My male leo, about 6 years old, seems sick. I noticed that he was having trouble shedding so i put him in some warm water. I then noticed that he had a little sore on his head so I washed it and cleaned it a little. So i put him back and he sounds like he is weezing....there is no reptile vet where I am...what can i do. He is my first herp and i dont want him to suffer (if he is)

Yes, I would definately find a vet a.s.a.p. even if you have to go an hour or so out of your way, if it is a reps. system infection it will not clear up on it's own. You need to get him to a vet for meds.
I haven't had personal experience with this but I have heard that when a leo gets sick it stresses them out and you could end up with more problems like internal parasites if the stress continues. I know this is true with bearded dragons because I have been through it first hand so I would believe it true with leos as well. I hope you can find a vet for him. Usually if you call local vets they can give you a number for a reptile vet in the area. I now travel over an hour away for my vet since my local exotic vet has moved away. It's kind of a pain but better that than losing an animal.

Well, if anyone can tell me where there is a reptile vet in Saskatchewan or close to please tell me now. I have asked around, hmm maybe the University. This is the first time that this has happened.

Try this link to find a vet around your area. Good Luck! I had another link saved under my favorites but it seems that the link is now dead.
