Just an update!

Well we gave the little corn 2 fuzzy mice. She took them like the little garbage disposal she is and went searching for more.......
We put her on some carefresh bedding (about 2 inches) and she has it all packed down in her cool hide......and has already made burrows throug the rest and packed it down in her warm hide........she is poking her head out here, then going "under" and coming out somewhere else! lol like she's playing "peek-a-boo"........

Just wondering.......when we feed her should we put paper down over the bedding or do you think she can ingest it (the care fresh) right now?

what I usually do is move the aspen (or the substrate) away from the place where I am going to put the mice and then feed it. Most would just grab it from my tongs but then some needs to be placed on the ground for them to eat it.

So in my opinion, if it's not too much hassle for you, I would definately put paper on before feeding or just do it like me...move away some of the substrate to feed~

When I was using aspen, I just put a paper towel down over it, and put the mouse in the middle of the paper towel. I don't know what carefresh is like, but if it's at all crumbly (and might stick to the mouse), I wouldn't personally risk them ingesting it.

Ok, well I usually take everything out of the enclosure to feed anyways.....hides, foliage, waterbowl. I'll just put down some paper to make sure she don't eat the care fresh to!
She loves to burrow in it! I tried to pick her up she slid right through my fingers and burrowed into it! I didn't want to risk getting "tagged" (like it would hurt, but would stress her out) so I just put the top back on and let her be.......

I do have one more question.......what should her hot side be. I've read (on care sheets on the internet) that it should be 80-85 hot side and 70-75 cool side..........then we just got the corn snake manual and it said something liek 85-90 (I'm not sure it could have been 90-95) and with a cool side of like either 75-80 (or 80-85).........so which one is it?

Mine have an ambient air temp on the hot side of about 85 during the day, though the floor temp gets to about 90-91. The nighttime temp and cool side, are whatever they are. I think a gradient of 75 at the cool side to 85 at the warm side is what I've read mostly. Mine are doing great with it.
