So I recently got my first snake (Florida Kingsnake) and he is eating fine (frozen thawed mice) but I was wondering if there are other food options. Maybe i'm personifying to much but I know I wouldn't only want to eat one thing for my whole life.
I would never feed him anything wild-caught due to the health risks involved and I was wondering if any of you have experimented with alternative food sources and have suggestion where to get them?
As mentioned, rats, quail and chicks are a good alternative...but offering only mice won't leave them "wanting" other types of food. Nothing wrong with offering variety, though.
I started keeping snakes almost 20 years ago. None of mine are large enough to need larger prey than rats. So they've never been fed anything besides mice or rats.
My adult King eats an adult mouse every 10-14 days. He's never been fed anything else. He's still a maniac about eating every meal, so I see no reason to believe he's "bored" with mice or craves variety.
