My Little One!
So I got some pictures (or a lot) of my new little one today. I also got the weight- 71 grams. I don't know how old the little one is, but I think it was the same BRB I saw when I was in the store last September.
So here are some of the better ones.

Re: My Little One!
Little one just ate for me! Nice healthy meal that the little one took down like a champ. After doing all the calculations, the store was seriously underfeeding the boa. From what I have read, the snake ought to be eating 13% of the body weight. At 71 grams, my snake should be eating between 9 and 10 grams. The store was feeding about 5.
Little one is back in the tank (I fed in a large mixing bowl, which little one seemed very comfortable in) curled up to digest. I'm very excited for the healthy enthusiasm to chow down. I was a little worried that the little one wouldn't want to eat.

Re: My Little One!
First off, gorgeous little guy (gal)! Especially in outdoor lighting, which really brings out the colors.
Second, I suspected as much, per my e-mail. A few mouse pinks is a very small meal for a baby Brazilian. Don't go by percentage of weight, though -- go by width. A young snake should eat a meal as wide around as they are at their widest part, offered once per week. Juveniles should be fed every other week, and non-breeder adults every third week. Percentages break down at the larger weights -- an average adult female can weigh 2200 grams, and a 286-gram meal would be huge....

Congrats on the new addition and the successful first feed. He's a nice looking boa.

Re: My Little One!
It's a male!
Found out yesterday with at the vet.... What an adventure that was!
I called the snake several names, because he escaped (very sneakily) from the shoe box I was transporting him in. And promptly curled up inside the rolling track of the passenger side seat....... It took over 50 minutes, two vet techs, a guy from Napa and myself to retrieve him....

Re: My Little One!
They're good at those adventures. ;-) Especially when small, lol. (I named one of mine Houdini because he was so talented at that!) Anyway, glad it ended well, and that you now have a gender for him!!!
