Some Pics of my caiman's set up

Hey finally got my hands on a digital camera and snapped some shots of my larger palpebrosus' set up. Hope this works.

Very cool setup. What are the dimensions on it?

P/S: I see smoke on the water.

the demensions are 8 feet long, 4 feet wide, 4 feet tall. the pond is 7 feet long, 4 feet wide and about 2 and a half feet deep. Yeah I got this new fogger thing I thought I'd try out in there, I think it looks pretty cool. Yeah pretty soon I'm going to be replacing the front door with glass once I get the cash together. But I know my Fluffy (my caiman) really likes it

Impressive, but...

...According to your deminsions you only give your Dwarf 1'x4' of land. Paleosuchus are more terrestrial then they are aquatic, and generally have a reverse affect from dusk 'til dawn. During daylight hours they usually hang out among the low lying vegitation that over hang there water areas and when darkness falls they move about on land. (Normal wild and captive activity)..
As a rule, I and many others generally use the 'German law' when housing crocodilians. ( Land - 3 x Snout to vent lenght by 4 x SVL, while the water part is 4 x SVL by 5 x SVL. SVL ) I'm going to guess the SVL is about a foot on your palp. So considering the G. Law your enclosure should be (Land) 3'x4' (Water) 4'x5'; Your enclosure is generally perfect due to whole size of the enclosure but the land is just to small. Also, I love the Wole Plant hang over thing you have going on in the cage, as well as the fogger.
Just figured I should point that out,
Xain

yeah well I used to have a bigger land area with the old cage set up and she barely went on it so I don't see much of a point. she's doing great and eating fine and everything. I also have a baby dwarf in a four foot cage with 2.5 feet of land and the rest water and he barely goes on land, in fact he hasn't gone on the land since I got him about 3 weeks ago.

Odd..

...But hey, If they are feeding fine and the Temps are right I guess there's no need for concern..

Xain .. very informative but thats general guide line .. I find one animal to an other varies in care and they let you know what they need.

Again, Jeremy .. you have amazing set ups for them .. it is more then many ppl can offer..

True..

But its more comforting to see that an animal has choices.
