Sav Monitor food enhancement? (Suppliments)
Hello
What do you use to gut load the insects fed to your savannah monitors?

Thanks! That's basically what I use minus the corn.
Do you ever use dark leafy greens?

I also use the calcium water gel (cricket drink) for my roaches.

I'll check those out. I am currently using water crystals only for my dubias because the turks and crickets make a mess of the gels. But I haven't tried those made by Zilla.
Edit: I have some questions about snails and night crawlers... should I start another thread?

You can or we can use this one, and I can modify the title a little.
It's up to you.

Re: Sav - What do you use to gut-load feeder insects?
Okay cool
So I want to try feeding snails. What do you guys think of just taking snails from my mom's yard? She doesn't spray with any insecticides, poisons, etc.
The snails are garden snails attracted to a green creeping vine with purple flowers. I can't remember the name!
Edit: The vine is dwarf periwinkle (vinca minor)
And how can I increase the calcium content of my night crawlers? I use those raised by DMF Bait company.

Re: Sav Monitor food enhancement? (Suppliments)
i feed snails from my yard without problems.
a little calcium dust or bone meal would stick to night crawlers just fine.
I wouldn't get too carried away though.

Re: Sav Monitor food enhancement? (Suppliments)
with a nice varied diet, supplementation becomes more of a preference than a necessity.

Indeed I want to make sure the food I'm providing is quality on its own.

I give my savannah dubia roaches, turkestan roaches, night crawlers, quail eggs, crickets, super worms, red worms, hissers, and mice. But mice make up less than 50% of the diet.

Re: Sav Monitor food enhancement? (Suppliments)
As for the worms, just add the calcium to the soil you keep them in. You are basically feeding it to them then, and therefore your Sav too.
I'd add crayfish to that list, but it looks pretty good.
