Rediscovering Euryale
When we first took her home last fall in exchange for all those rats, we could tell she did not come from a pet environment. I had to touch her with tongs to let her know it was handling time and not feeding time. That has changed now. She is one of the calmest Dums we have and she is just as high contrast as Miss Piggy is which makes it even better.

Re: Rediscovering Euryale
Thank you very much. I certainly took a second look at her in the last few weeks.

Re: Rediscovering Euryale
Thank you.
Its funny, all 7 of my Dums look distictly different than each other but Euryale and Miss Piggy look so much alike except Euryale is bigger. Below are a couple of examples of Miss Piggy. Euryale and she are a couple of the highest contrasting Dums I have.
Id like to see pics of your Dums Rogue

Re: Rediscovering Euryale
Both of mine are darker than those girls I think. They look so identical that the only way I can tell them apart is by studying their pattern around the neck area. When I first got them they were a bit easier to tell apart because one was a little bigger than the other but now since they're both at a healthy size, when I put them side by side it's almost impossible to tell which one is which. I have them in tubs with different colored lids. If someone were to pull a prank and switch them around, it would probably take me a while to realize it just by looking at them. They're a little different in personality, though. One is much more curious right out of the tub while the other is really shy.
Not very good pics but these are the most recent. This is the boyfriend's dumeril...she's the more curious one. She looks lighter in this pic than what she is. Not sure why as she looks identical to Ms Celie in person.
And this is Ms Celie, the shy one.
I wish I still had pics of them when I first rescued them. They were kinda scrawny compared to what they are now. BTW, thanks for the advice on them you gave me a couple of weeks ago

Re: Rediscovering Euryale
Yeah. They have a lot of pink to a reddish tint to them. I think they are from the same clutch but I'm not sure as they're rescues. They were found in a really dirty tub together.
Their age is unknown, but I'm guessing around 3-4 years from information I've gathered about dumerils and their growth. Other than being a little thin, they were healthy and easy to handle from day one. Whomever had them did interact with them, although the husbandry sucked. I'd like to think the previous owner meant well, but really didn't know good husbandry. They're both really sweet and pretty much lap snakes. After they've been out a few minutes, they curl up somewhere and pretty much stay. lol

Re: Rediscovering Euryale
yeah typical Dums to be chill like that.
To be sub par in keeping Dums has got to be really bad since they are not hard to keep.

Re: Rediscovering Euryale
These girls were picked up from a house that had 2 carpets a redtail BCI, a Hogg Island, and a royal. You'd think with that many animals the guy was attempting to keep, he'd have better husbandry. Even the 2 carpets were housed together. And they were found on fauna.
I love these girls. They're great to interact with when you need a sort of zen time since they're so calm and calming to handle.
You have some pretty dumerils and I absolutely LOVE Black Betty!

Re: Rediscovering Euryale
idk if its a cause and effect thing but since shes calmed down as much as she has, shes been getting handled a whole lot more which makes her even more tame. Im developing a Vanessa level bonding with Euryale as well. Go figure.
