Witnessing locks
OK, so how do you people witness locks??!! I can't seem to witness one no matter how long I stand there!!
I have 3 Corn matchings this year, one for the babies with certain hets and 2 testing out PH's.
match 1 - the male displays typical pre-mating behaviors. I have seen them lying side by side with thier tails lined up, but not over/under or in lock. I have not witnessed a lock between these 2 who started being placed to gether back in the end of Jan. The female is showing no signs of being gravid. She hasn't shed since Jan 20.
Match 2 - again the male displays pre-mating behavior, I have not witnessed a lock and she started being paired in early feb. She is showing no signs of being gravid. She last shed March 11
Match 3 - I have witnessed NOTHING between this pair, no behaviors or line-ups, NOTHING!!!! however...... this female is starting to look "thicker" and maybe a little "bumpy" too. She also refused her last meal, she NEVER refuses meals, NEVER!! her last shed was on March 13.
So what do you think?? Am I just missing the locks?? or are they not happening. From the descriptions given would you guys say I have at least 1 gravid female or is this season gonna be a bust for my corns??

hmmm, maybe I'll change thier substrate for now to newspaper, I've never liked the look, but it may make witnessing a lock easier, thanks!!

I would just leave them only and give them time. Maybe light some candles and put on the R&B. To help get them in the mood. lol

Re: Witnessing locks
I just witnessed my first lock of the season yesterday, but wouldn't you know, today, they have retreated underneath the aspen for a bit more privacy
