Re: PROFILE: Torruk
Yes, that's the one!!
Yes, he does. I took the one out to get good pics of him. But he has one real hide and a cardboard box for now on the cool side as I am custom making a jungle-hut hide for his viv.
I will have to get hubby to construct a better lid. Right now it is a sreen lid with saran wrap covering about 90% of the screen, just about 3/4" left open on each end.
temps are pretty stable at 91f and 75f, humidity has not dropped below 50% and gets as high as 75% as the day warms up.
The water dish is not big enough for him to get a full soak, but I am looking for one.

Sounds like you're getting things right He's a big boy, so don't worry because he didn't eat his first meal with you this week. He'll be eating for you in no time! Probably just needs time to settle in.

Re: PROFILE: Torruk
Nice looking pastel. He looks healthy in your pics. My pastel male is my problem child. I got him last year to pair with my spider female, as I was told he was a proven breeder. My other two balls eat aggressively and never refuse a meal. He is a little more picky and will sometimes refuse a meal. I believe he was fed live before I got him. I feed all my snakes frozen thawed rats normally. I wouldn't worry about the occasional meal refusal as long as he keeps his weight up and is active. If you acquired him as an adult, he may take longer to settle in and get on schedule. Or, he may just be a little more difficult... but be patient and keep doing what your doing.

Re: PROFILE: Torruk
thank you Steve,
yes, I got him as an adult, the breeder feeds fresh-killed to all his snakes, my first try was with F/T. So I will try again this sunday with a fresh-kill.

Re: PROFILE: Torruk
oh and I am seeing him out of his hides more and more, so I think he's getting used to things. I guess living for 2 yrs in a tub, then getting a big viv would have been a big change over for him.

He looks nice and healthy. You shouldn't be able to see or feel his ribs or anything like that. But if you touch where the spine should be, you'll feel it's hard. Is that what you're feeling? He looks fine; not thin or anything.
