Can I downsize her viv?

Currently my beardie is in a 5'x2'x3' aquarium but I have a 4'x18"x2' tall aquarium as well. Do you think she will be ok if I switch her to the smaller tank but keep all of her "furniture" in it? She has been in the big one for years but spends 90% of the time in the heated end anyway?
Well?? Thoughts??

Re: Can I downsize her viv?

Might take a little getting used to, but she'll live. 48" x 18" isn't too shabby for a single adult beardie.

However, what are your temps (ambient daytime, ambient nighttime, basking spot, and cool end)? If she is spending 90% of her time on the heated end, it may not be quite warm enough.

Cool side is 85 ish warm is 95-105 and her basking spot is 120-125. Ambient room temps jump around a bit as we go from spring to summer thus the spread. At night her tank sits around 80 under her log where she sleeps.

Re: Can I downsize her viv?

Yes, it would be fine, but why would you want to put her in something smaller?

Re: Can I downsize her viv?

We are in the middle of making our dedicated reptile room. This tank is bigger than the spot I have for her.

I see. Again, it will be fine, but keep in mind that bigger is always better.

Re: Can I downsize her viv?

Personally I don't agree, my dragon is full grown, even on the small side and when she was in her smaller tank which was 18inchs deep she couldn't turn around comfortably. Mine is a 4x2x2 and no she doesn't use it all all the time, but she does use it, and you never know when you aren't around she could be all over the place. Just cause she doesn't seem to use the space doesn't mean it shouldn't be available.

Re: Can I downsize her viv?

I guess I could just try it and see. If she reacts weird I could change it back.

Re: Can I downsize her viv?

I wouldn't change it... Figure out a way to get the larger cage to fit into the room design. I think down sizing for an animal like that is never good. They do much better when given the room to roam
