Help id kingsnake please
Just bought him at an expo.
I know nothing about them other than I was told he was a mexican king.
Can anyone be more specific from these photos?
Is he full grown??

He definately looks more like goins king. His spotting is more defined but the pattern and colour are very similar.

Agreed. He's beautiful, and looks like a goins king snake, not a mexican king snake. And to me he looks like he's about full grown or definitely approaching it.

Funny thing is I never thought he was a black mexican king. But wasn't sure if there was another mexican king. I mean... He isn't black at all  My son was hoping he would stay this size so perfect

Looks like a desert king snake but have never seen an adult Google pic's him maybe you will find out that way. Really awesome snake though.

Wow what a feeding response. No issues feeding him at all. He ate right away first try and not shy at all.

That is wonderful news! I think feeding issues is the biggest concern for most. I know I spaz out when my babies won't eat but then I remind myself that there are times when I don't feel like eating either...lol

Back to identifying him. Do all goins have red because this guy is chesnut brown to almost black and then the yellowish tint. I figure the goins seems best so far but I have looked at pics of goins and he seems just a bit different.

You probably will never know for sure where he is from, Colors and patterns can very greatly. ID-ing him from pictures will never give you a 100% answer.

Yes, it does appear to be an Apalachicola king (L. g. goini). Though it could be a product of breeding of any of the easterns...including L.g.floridana and/or L.g.getula.
Likely though, it has the "blaze" phase introduced in there as well, since it is holding some of the red coloration it was born with like many getula.
I do have some wild caught that are holding some color too, however.......
"Goins" kings are most variable and when you mix in genes from any of the others, you never know what you may end up ith.
One thing is certain, it is no mexican or desert king.
