Repti shelter 3 in 1 cave
So I just picked one up for my dum, anyone have any experience with one of these?
I've been trying to find some info and tips online but other then the basic specs haven't had any luck. Where bouts should I put the cave in my snakes enclosure? Under the heat lamp? Or on the cooler side? Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated.

I put a hide at both the warm and cool end, but in general the dums wont even use them if there isn't a few inches of soil under them, they still prefer to burrow.

Re: Repti shelter 3 in 1 cave
Yea I currently have a hide at each end of the enclosure...on the hot side I have one of those fake rock hides and a large wooden log on the cooler side. I was planning on replacing the rock with the cave I just bought, but I want to make sure having the cave under the heat lamp would be safe.... And yea I was planning on putting enough substrate in the cave for her to burrow in

Snakes are generally fine when it comes to thermoregulating. They go where they need to go to get the best temps, just make sure its not too hot so they don't burn themselves.

that's not necesarily true at all. neither of my dumerils burrow often at all, yet i see them using both hides frequently. (although i have seen both of them burrowed into the substrate before)

My Dumeril spends 90% of he's time burrowing under the substrate. He like a Anaconda in the water.
