Hello all!
Hey everyone I'm new to the forum. I was hoping to get some info on breeding Suriname boas. Is there anyone that has a lot of experience with true Surinamese? Or any good books? I have a four year old male 6'2" and a 2 1/2 year old female 6'1". I just recently put them together and it looks as if they are mating. They are both healthy and very strong snakes. Are they gonna be alright? Or should I separate them?

Re: Hello all!
Hello and welcome! I don't know a whole lot about breeding ,but i do know you should wait till they are at least 3 years of age. If you breed them to young the chance of slug increase quite a bit. i believe Feebo on here has breed boas. He would be a lot more help than me.

Re: Hello all!
Hello and welcome to the forum. I have not had any experience with keeping boa's but as marvel freak has said 3 years of age is normally the minimum to breed healthy clutches. I usually wait till they are 4 as this has always worked for me.

Re: Hello all!
Thanks guys I'm fairly new to the herp world, about two years now. I have a yearling ball python and two Suriname boas a 2 1/2 year old female 6'1" and a three year old male 6'2". They are all in perfect shape (except the ball's heating pad malfunctioned and burned her. But all is well) and very friendly. Thank you all for being so friendly. I look forward to talking to all.

Re: Hello all!
breeding reptiles in more based on weight than age. having said that 3 years is the norm because that is how long it usually takes to get a snake up to breedable size, but some ppl feed a little heavy to get there snake up to weight faster. it is possible to get a corn up to weight in as little as one year! that is not very healthy and i would strongly discourage it but it is possible. at 2 and a half years i would say if it is healthy and you have a good idea of what you are doing give it a try and see what happens.

Re: Hello all!
Yeah I think she is pregnant. She looks pretty swollen in her last two and a half feet. I'm waiting for the long shed now. But she wasn't over fed she eats two jumbos rats every ten days and she is very healthy. My computer is wiggin out on me so I have to operate off my phone for a little bit. I can't figure out how to post her pics from my phone. But as soon as I get my computer figured out I'll post her pics.

Re: Hello all!
There's my girl! Thanks so much for the help I'm trying to get some good new pics of my male Suriname and python but he's pretty pissed at me for pulling him away from Indy (my female). I think he just needs a week to cool off or something.
