New owner question

Just one of many thoughts that run through my head since buying my first corn. When (if) the weather ever gets warm enough are their any health benefits to taking snakes outside for some natural sunlight?

I am not suggesting putting them down in the grass or anything like that - just having my daily cuddles outside rather than inside.

Re: New owner question

I took my snakes outside. It I think is nice for them. My snakes love it. Moving in the grass for them is nice. As longs as there is no poison on your grass they should be fine. Just make sure it is warm enough.

Re: New owner question

natural uv wont harm them mate.you do have to give them a chance to shade themselves if they choose to.dont leave them where they cant escape the suns rays.they can over heat.i usually hang some of my carpets off the branches of the trees in my garden.they bask for a bit then retreat to a shadier part of the tree.my nieghbours face was a treat the first time she spotted them while out hanging her washing.
cheers shaun

It`s bloody rare the weather is warm enough for that here Rob! I`d say you want to be damn sure you know what you`re doing if you ever put them down too, damn sure. Can I just observe here that you`re talking about daily handling sessions... If you`re handling every single day that`s a bit much for them really, there`s such a thing as too much handling believe it or not...
Here`s an idea, if it`s ever warm enough that is, here`s a link to a guy I follow on YouTube, his names Zack and he has some beautiful snakes. In this clip he`s made a wee structure out of pvc piping which I thought was quite inspiring. You could make a similar wee contraption for your Corns which you could place them on for photographs. That might be a little more controlled than putting them on the floor

it was pretty hillarious mate, she did a double take that fast i thought her head was going to fall off.we've been nieghbours over 20 years so she saw the funny side.she pops in every now and then to watch them feed.she brings her grankids to see them in the garden on the few days outside temps are ok.
cheers shaun

Re: New owner question

They dont come out EVERY day but certainly every other day or so - obviously not for 48hours after feeding so probably looking at 3 or 4 times per week
