Question just wondering if this is true [it would explain alot]

just researching and i found this

You will find that they are hungrier in the spring and summer, winding down during the fall; many stop feeding altogether during the winter months even though the may still be somewhat active :medteeths

It can be true if you change the photo period and temperatures. But people usually dont do that unless they have plans on breeding.

In my experiences, none of my snakes have ever changed their behavior during the cold weather.

Yes it is totally true. You do not have to change light & heat for it to happen either. Snakes can sense season changes etc. irreguardless of how they are manipulated. Every year I have snakes that do this & field calls from a couple dozen folks asking me Q's about their snakes behaving this way. It is in their nature to act like this & I believe that they sense things such as barometric preesure etc. moreso then most folks think. It is quite common for breedings to occur or eggs to be laid when the weather outside changes despite all the Husbandry remaining the same for the snakes. Mark

Easily. Every year my adult Colubrids get taken off food for a month & then brumated for 3 months. Quite often the males won't eat for another month after that ( they want to breed first). Basically every year adult Colubrids go without for 4-5 months. These snakes are cooled though & their metabolism (sp?) is slowed right down. In the case of a snake not feeding when not being cooled, as long as it is not getting thin or lethargic it will be fine for a long time. More of a concern with baby snakes when not feeding than it is with subadults or adults. Mark
