Really late egg.....

I just thought I would share an experience I have had this egg laying season.

On May 2nd, the 27th day after pre-lay shed I found one of my big females coiled up over a beautiful nine egg clutch. So I did my thing and got here off the clutch and set it up in the incubator.

Now this is where all the fun starts. When I ran her through my fingers to feel for any eggs that might be left behind, I felt what I thought was one slug. No big deal I just put her back in her home and let her do her thing!

One week went by and nothing happened! She did eat one small meal at the end of the week. (First meal she ate since Oct.2004) It was not until May 29th that she shed, pooped and got rid of the mass! That’s 27 days later than the first nine eggs! It actually turned out to be an egg that appeared to look great. But when I candled it, I found it to be infertile! I was just happy for her to be egg free at this point.

I know some other breeders have had similar experiences this season, this is just one more thing that can test your patience when dealing with Ball Pythons!

Thanks for reading!

Congrats on the eggs as they will turn into beautiful babies. I have to wait another two years to have my ball breed.
