I noticed alot of pics on here have what appears to be wood shavings of some sort for beeding, what kind is it? and is that good for jcp?

Ummm.. cypress, aspen, orchid bark are the usuals

news paper and paper towels work great as well and are a bit less work

Newspaper is awesome too. I used that for 3 years until I switched to aspen. Used that for a year, then I switched to orchid bark. They all work. Use whatever you like the best.
