New York laws

I was just reading and saw that monitors such as black heads and crocs were now illegal in New York among other species of monitors. This reallly pissed me of because I planned on eventually owning a few reptiles on this list. Does anyone know of any stipulations to these laws such as buying it out of state, saying you owned it before the law was put into effect, or is a liscense the only way? Thanks for any help in advance.

No, but how are they going to know ^^ People in Cali and NYC have ferrets.......never caught :P Government is very slow on these things........monitors are harmles.......okay, they aren't, but we love 'em LOL

Its not that there slow. But theres alot more importnent things to take care of. Then banned animals.

It's only illegal if you get caught, however in getting caught you may scar more people then yourself.

Well I don't imagine I'd get caught being that 75% of the police around here are family. It's also illegal to catch frogs in NY but never got bustedfor that either

Well, for starters, I wouldn't go conspiring to illegally purchase/smuggle illegal animals across state lines, as, believe it or not, there are state and federal officials who peruse these forums as well... So I would be careful.

In fact, there was a guy here in NY who just recently got busted with some rare/endangered/illegally smuggled tortoises, and is now facing some serious federal charges/fines/ and jail time... All because he was posting and bragging about it on the internet forums... Smart move...

So I would be careful with what you say, even if you hide behind an "alias", as when it comes to government agencies, I do not think they will have a hard time tracking you down....

Conspiracy to a crime is just as bad as committing it... So I would be more careful with what I say or talk about doing on the forums....

Thanks, although I doubt highly it will happen I know it is a possibility. Just like the illegal downloading people do barely anyone mayve 1% gets caught doing so. Regardless I wouldn't want to be in that 1% category paying $10,000.00 a song or w/e it is, or for that matter $10,000.00 per illegal animal and having all mine taken away. Just isn't worth it. Although going back to my original post I was just wondering if there were any legal ways around this was all.
