Help, BP got bit.

Before anyone tries to flame me I know all about the not supposed to feed live thing, I feed all of my snakes F/T, but this one is a 2 year old WC rescue that will NOT take F/T. Anywho to get on with my question my snake got bit by the hampster I fed it, I stunned the hamster but he still managed to get a bite in. It was just a tiny pinhole, But I am worried about infection. Is their something I can put on the bite? Polysporin maybe? Is their any methods I can use to help prevent infection you guys know about? thanx for the help

Deep bite? Scales missing? If you answer no to either, polysporin will do a great job. Apply the gel, not the cream, every two days until after she sheds. Good luck.

Clean the bite, clean the cage and put polysporin on it. Make sure it stays clean.

ok, no missing scales, dont know how deep the bite is? The snake just ate the hampester like nothing happened. I put polysporin on the wound, the cage is always kept clean, but I was wondering If I took the snake out to wash the wound, (im assuming thats what Tim meant) will It regurge Its meal? Thx, I feel pretty dumb right now lol.

I am no expert on snake wounds, but if you have polsporin on the wound, and it doesn't seem serious, I'd just let her rest for the night/day and then bathe her. A bath is probably a great idea, I just doubt doing it now, or 12-24 hours from now will make or break the situation, so might as well let her digest a bit.

Then again I have only been keeping balls for about 2 years (maybe!) and haven't had any snake bites like that. But the above is what I would do after making sure its not serious, and putting creme on the wound.
