Weird tail behaviour

Last night I was trying to sleep and heard all this chirping coming from my crested gecko cage, where I'd just put a female in with a new male. She had her back to him, was looking at him and twitching her tail, right infront of his face. It was almost like how a rattle snake rattles' it's tail...

Was she using her tail to distract him somehow? Or is there a danger of the tail being lost?

Thanks guys

I've noticed this behaviour from our females on numerous occasions. Especially from our big red female! I've noticed that depending on the intensity of the "twitch", as well as the loudness of her response, the male usually either avoids her or they mate. Mating usually occurs when the response is softer and more mellow, almost like a "hey big boy" kinda response to his test licks.
I find it kinda cool how you can tell who is busy talkin because they all sound unique in their calls. Going on 5 years of talkin and everyone still has their tails!

Thanks StickyToes

I've just never seen it, and I'd had her in with my older male for about 6 months...I've only seen it with the new male. Who knows, maybe I'll get some really nice looking babies this time Watching the 'test licks' is the cutest thing ever

Thanks.
