First Burm

Hello All, I have just decided to buy my first burm baby, a little albino. I have done a lot of reading and searching online, as well as reading through forums. I am wondering if anyone has some hints or clues, or just general ideas before I get my baby? I already have an enclosure, heat sources, etc (I have other herps as well). I'd appreciate any info or suggestions, thanks.

it sounds like your ready! the only things i can think of is i would start feeding him on small rats or even really smal rabbits, just can save you some hassle down the road. and good rabbit breeders are hard to find. Best of Luck and i hope your happy with your new freind!

It shouldn't be too hard to find feeder rabbits, I will be breeding my own rabbits and guinea pigs, and already breed rats and mice. Of course, space for the breeders would be the biggest problem, however there are 3 larger feeder breeders (of rabbits) within driving distance here, so that's awesome.

Rabbits can be found very cheap through local farmers and such.. I pay $5 for rabbits over 5lbs.. Anything less, i hardly ever have to pay for..

well right now im paying $1.50 a lbs. it dosent bother me now but once my burm needs 5+ pounds im going to try to nogatate a cheaper price, that or find another breeder but im not sure where to look. how did you find the rabbit breeders in your area?

Many go for about $1/lb. Pre-killed are more for obvious reasons, but if you can do it yourself, or your snake is a live feeder then no problem.

I have a food saver thing, so I will be able to vaccum all of my feeders to pop into the freezer.

Your $1.50 is US, which is about $2 Canadian.. I think that's a little steep up here.. Either way, you have a source, that's a start.. If you can find some local farmers and stuff, they should be able to put you in contact with some Rabbit Breeders.. Perhaps not mention what you want them for.. If you take them live, i think it might be a bit cheaper.. If you get them killed, make sure they don't 'dress' them for you too.. Also, if you can find some farmers markets, this is a great place to get in contact with breeders.. That's how i got my contact, my father met a lady at a 'farmers market' who breeds rabbits and that's why they're as cheap as they are.. The things are huge too, and for $5.. I love it..

actually that is very atypical for a young burm.
yes they will bite,( most baby pythons do)but i wouldnt call them very very mean. as far as not eating, thats odd. id go bring him too a vet, check him 4 worm/parasites.

I have only been bitten once, and that was from a young ball who is still terrified of being held. She's actually for breeding (maybe ready next year, if not, year after), a het for albino. my other 2 balls are wonderful and super sweet.

I am greatly lookign forward to my burm, hubby says we can only have one, but thats what he said when we first moved in together (only 1 cat, and his dog, lol). Now we have a house full, and each month I am putting down payments on all sorts of things
